Bequest giving just jumped nearly 20%

Bequest giving rose almost 20% in 2025, the largest increase of any source of charitable giving that year, according to the newest Giving USA report. It's the third time in four years bequests have grown 20% or more.

Donors are naming charities in their wills right now, and most small nonprofits aren't set up be on their radar. October gives you the moment to be in front of them. National Estate Planning Awareness Week is a real opening to talk about legacy gifts with your donors, and most small nonprofits let it pass by every single year.

Not because planned giving doesn't matter. Because nobody on staff has three weeks to write landing pages, letters of intent, bequest language, and a full social calendar from a blank screen.

That's what this bundle solves.

What you get:

  • Planned Gift Landing Page Copy ($15.99 value) Pre-written web copy you can drop onto your site this week. Built to explain planned giving simply and route interested donors straight to you.
  • Planned Gift Letter of Intent ($15.99 value) A customizable Canva template that gives donors an easy, low-pressure way to tell you they've included your organization in their plans.
  • Sample Bequest Language ($15.99 value) The exact wording donors and their attorneys need to name your organization in a will. Copy, paste, personalize, done.
  • Digital Marketing Plan for NEPAW ($34.99 value) A full week of social and email strategy already mapped out. Posting schedule, content angles, and the sequence that keeps momentum building day to day.
  • 10 Social Media Post Templates ($24.99 value) Five designs, each sized for X and for Facebook and Instagram. Add your logo and colors and you're ready to post.
  • Bonus: 3 Email Headers (FREE) Matching graphics for the email sequence in your marketing plan.

Total value if purchased separately: $114.95 You pay $84.99. That's 26% off.
I need this. Let's promote planned gifts

why planned giving is worth the week

Legacy gifts aren't a nice-to-have on the side of your annual fund. Blackbaud's Charitable Giving Report found that some organizations receive more than 25% of their annual revenue from planned gifts, with that revenue growing roughly 5% every year, even in recessions.

The return on the effort is hard to argue with too. Research from AskRight puts the average return at $56.83 for every dollar spent on bequest fundraising. Compare that to $33.33 for major gifts and $8.41 for annual giving, and planned giving isn't just a legacy play. It's the highest-return activity in your entire fundraising program.

Worried this competes with your annual fund? The data says the opposite. Research from Dr. Russell James found that donors who name a charity in their estate plans increase their annual giving by about 77% in the years that follow. Naming your organization in a will doesn't replace the relationship. It deepens it.

And the size difference matters. Planned gifts typically run 200 to 300 times larger than a donor's average annual gift. Planned giving is also one of the only strategies that isn't limited by a donor's current income. A donor who gives $25 a year might still name you for $25,000 in their will. This bundle opens that door to your entire donor base, not just your major donors.

Who built this?

Picture
I'm Jessica Cloud, CFRE, and I've spent over a decade in nonprofit fundraising, including senior development roles in higher education. I built this bundle from campaigns I've actually run. Every piece is designed to work together as one cohesive week, not a random pile of assets.

Let's raise some money

How It Works

  1. Purchase and you'll get an instant download: a PDF with every template link and step-by-step installation instructions.
  2. A short tutorial video walks you through setup so you're not guessing.
  3. Customize the colors, fonts, and messaging to match your brand. Everything is built to be edited, not just filled in.

Ready Before October

Build this now and you'll walk into National Estate Planning Awareness Week with a campaign already staged: landing page live, letter of intent ready, bequest language on hand, and all of the content scheduled.

Bequests are up nearly 20% this year. The donors who will fund your organization's future are already thinking about their wills. This bundle gets you in front of them before the week even starts.

Don't wait another year to start promoting planned giving to your donors!
